VPSA’s Selection Committee members play a vital role in ensuring transparency and representation from as many sites and specialties as possible on the association’s other task groups and committees. These members review expressions of interest, conduct a selection process, and recommend candidates. The committee assesses applicants and nominees based on applicable criteria and/or requirements. The role of the committee chair rotates among its members and includes a representative of the VPSA board. When a candidate is being selected for a joint VPSA-VCH committee (e.g., the VA/VC Physician Wellness Steering Committee), a VCH representative is included in the decision-making process. The VPSA committee members are Dr. Derek Chang, Dr. Janelle Yu, and Dr. Michael Nimmo.
“The Selection Committee meets on an as-needed basis and ensures that there is transparency in who is selected for our various committees and task groups,” said VPSA Vice President and committee member Dr. Michael Nimmo. “While not called upon often, the work of the group is important in ensuring decisions are made in an unbiased way and that we have representation from as many sites and specialties as possible.”
