Opportunities to Engage

Upcoming Events

Wednesday, March 12: 6 - 8:30 pm - a screening and panel discussion on the documentary Plastic People: The Hidden Crisis of Microplastics

Plastics have become ubiquitous in our environment and are a serious health-care issue. Microplastics are increasingly found in human tissues and have been associated with disease. Health-care providers can play a crucial role in educating ourselves and our patients about these pollutants and their risk. We can make personal, professional, institutional, and political commitments to reduce plastic waste. This film should be a call to action.

Dr. Douglas Courtemanche will moderate the panel discussion featuring nurse/researcher Aggie Black, Dr. Tim Takaro, and Dr. Sharon Dodd.

Current Opportunities

Apply today for VPSA commensality funding

VPSA is now accepting applications for renewals and new group funding for commensality groups. Small gatherings of physicians meet monthly for an hour to discuss issues central to the physician experience. These groups have been shown to reduce physician burnout, decrease depression, and improve job satisfaction.

Apply here before March 11. Decisions will be made shortly after this deadline with funded groups able to meet beginning as soon as April 1.

Small Steps Big Idea funding available

VPSA's Small Steps, Big Idea funding provides $1,000 to $5,000 to selected applicants to develop concepts that meet VPSA criteria.

Contemplating a larger scale project that doesn't fit with these budgetary constraints? We may be able to accommodate you. Please contact projects@vpsa.ca.

Check out our process, which begins with a letter of intent from VPSA physician members. Visit this link for more information.

Other VPSA funding opportunities

In addition to commensality group funding and Small Steps, Big Idea quality improvement project funding, VPSA is currently offering two other streams of funding that your department or division head can apply for:

  • Wellness champions funding (see here for examples of previously funded projects)
  • Retention and recruitment funding (see here for an article with examples of funded projects)

Do you have ideas that would fit? Talk to your department or division head and encourage them to apply or contact VPSA Operations Director Andrew Pinfold.
