Engaging Physicians in Indigenous Cultural Safety

The Engaging Physicians in Indigenous Cultural (EPIC) Safety Task Group prioritizes and advances Indigenous cultural safety in health-care settings. It is guided by meaningful partnerships between VPSA physicians, VCH Indigenous Health leadership, the First Nations Health Authority, and UBC Digital Emergency Medicine interCultural Online Health Network (iCON) leadership.

The task group's purpose is to engage medical staff in the co-creation of education resources and learning opportunities around Indigenous cultural safety principles and how these can be effectively implemented.

Monthly commitment of up to two hours. Sessional funding provided.

iCON has partnered with Vancouver Coastal Health Indigenous Health to develop Indigenous Health Rounds, which serve as a series of webinars to bring Indigenous voices to health-care providers, policy makers and health administrators for knowledge sharing, dialogue, and brainstorming solutions to combat racism and foster culturally safe health-care settings for Indigenous patients and families.
