Vancouver Acute Post Graduate Medical Education Learning Environment Committee
The VA Post Graduate Medical Education Learning Environment Committee (PGME-LEC) provides coordinated governance and strategic direction to optimize the clinical learning environment for residents and fellows at VA.
The committee, which was established and approved by the VA Executive Team, is dedicated to the continuous enhancement of educational experiences through responsive action on learner feedback, integration of postgraduate trainees into clinical operations, and active collaboration with the University of British Columbia to address learning environment priorities and improvements.
The committee is chaired by Medical Director, Medical Education, Dr. Kelly Lefaivre, with VPSA providing sessional funding for committee members including a VPSA representative.
The committee has the following goals:
• Ensure optimization of learning environment for PGME learners at VA
• Foster and maintain a high-quality clinical learning culture that supports professional development and high-quality patient care
• Foster positive working and learning experiences, and interactions, between PGME learners, UBC Faculty, and VA staff
• Ensure adequate data capture of experience of PGME learners at VA
• Ensure learners needs are represented in hospital-wide initiatives
