Anti-racism engagement at VCH

Racism in health care has a significant impact on you, your colleagues and patient outcomes. Racism and discrimination have impacts on staff mental and physical health and, in turn, affects the ability of staff to provide quality care to patients and clients.

Through open and honest dialogue at our in-person and online engagement sessions and data from the engagement survey, we are gathering your feedback and ideas on actions we can take to address racism and best support you, your colleagues and patient care. Your feedback will inform the development of the Anti-Racism Action Plan to guide VCH in building and fostering an anti-racist and culturally safe environment for all.

How can you take pa​​rt?
You can join the conversation and participate in many ways:

  1. Register and attend an in-person engagement session.*
  2. Register and attend an online engagement session via Zoom.*
  3. Schedule a one-on-one conversationwith one of the anti-racism facilitators.*
  4. Complete the anti-racism engagement survey.
  5. Share your thoughts and ideas directly on the anti-racism online forum here.

*Remuneration is available for eligible medical staff attending an in-person or online engagement session.  When registering for a session, please include your e-mail in the section provided.  Your registration information will be kept strictly confidential and will only be used to process your remuneration.

If you have attended a previous engagement session and haven’t received remuneration, and still wish to, please contact ce@vch.ca and provide your contact information along with the date and time of the engagement session you attended.

How will the information collec​ted be used?
All information from the engagement sessions and survey will not be linked to your name or any other information that could identify you. Information from the conversations and the survey will inform the development of the VCH Anti-Racism Action Plan.
