President’s Update

I take my role as president of your medical staff association and the Vancouver Physician Staff Association seriously. One of my goals for my first year in office is to build on the important foundation built by my predecessors. Reaching all our close to 1,900 members is challenging and we know we need to enhance the profile of both the MSA and VPSA amongst the medical and surgical membership. We work to serve your best interests and we can do that better with an enhanced profile.

Your board also wishes to continue to develop a collegial working relationship with VCH administration and senior leaders. One way we are doing that is by welcoming President & CEO Mary Ackenhusen and Associate Vice President of Medicine, Quality & Safety Chad Kim Sing to our February 24 MSA quarterly meeting. They will discuss, amongst other matters, the results of the oneVCH survey and how VCH scored with our medical and surgical members. I encourage you to take the time to attend the meeting, which will take place in the VGH Physician Hub for Engagement and Wellness (Jim Pattison Pavilion South, Level 2, next to Sassafras Café) from 5:15 to 7 pm (dinner included). Please register here by February 19.

The board and VPSA’s Engagement Working Group are actively working with senior VCH leaders on several fronts to identify activities and priorities for our next fiscal year starting April 1. We recognize that a mutually respectful relationship will benefit the institution, the doctors who drive its clinical care mission, and the patients who depend on the institution to meet their health care needs.

We are here to serve and encourage you to provide your feedback, attend our events, and join our task groups to make our place of work the best it can be.

Sincerely,
Dr. Eric Yoshida, President
VPSA/VMDAS
